Ricardo Angel joined PTV International Ventures Americas, Inc. (PIVA) as Chief Executive Officer & Managing Partner to lead all investments in breakthrough technology companies and leverage open innovation to support PETRONAS’ future business growth. PIVA is PETRONAS’ Corporate Venture Capital arm established to make early stage investments in artificial intelligence, robotics, machine learning, advance materials, as well as existing and new sources of energy start-ups in North America and Europe. Ricardo brings more than 25 years of experience, having spent most of his career in energy investment with GE Ventures as Managing Director leading origination and investments in energy, oil and gas, and natural resources. While at GE Ventures he developed and executed the group’s strategy by leveraging breakthrough technologies, innovative business models, capital, and the GE platform which led to shifts in corporate business strategy, multiple technical and commercial collaborations, and various company acquisitions. Ricardo served on dozens of Board of Directors of portfolio companies and provided leadership and guidance to management teams to drive operational and financial value. He also led Energy Technology Ventures (ETV), a $300MM joint venture formed by GE, NRG Energy, Inc. and ConocoPhillips, focused on investing in emerging energy technology companies. As a leader, Ricardo is passionate about nurturing and leveraging open innovation within large organizations. Ricardo is end-goal oriented and a believer in formal education, persistence and teamwork. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated passion for building strong, agile and well aligned teams to deliver strategic and financial benefits to the organization. Based in Silicon Valley, Dr. Angel joined PIVA from GE Ventures, having previously worked in investment banking at Goldman Sachs, as a consultant at the CNA Corporation, and as an investor at ChevronTexaco Technology Ventures’ Venture Capital group. Ricardo holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Engineering from the University of Illinois.
